(*Author’s Note: Since Halloween is nearing, I thought perhaps I would try my hand at some “spooky poems.”  Here’s the first one for your enjoyment.)

On this the eve of all unholy,
golden moon dimmed by slithering clouds,
let slip the inner beast from man;
cast off the earthly shroud.

Ride with the dark fiend,
atop Satan’s steed gallop;
chill wind, howling, promising death in each ear.
Hurl into night blacker than starless sky.

With each toll of the bell tower
feel the pulse quicken;
blood stir,
glowing ember eyes
open.

As smoke from a candle,
silently steal away from light.
Entwine your soul with midnight hour
smiling an evil white grin.
